INVERSE Update 0.65 – Swarm Update

INVERSE v0.65 introduces the Swarm: a hive mind of Skitters, an arachnid-type Nul, that latch onto Agents and attack during the Extermination Phase of each round. Skitters have swarm-intelligence and attach themselves to Agents’ arms so Agents are unable to pick up and use items until they squash the Skitters attached to them. Skitters also reveal the Agents they are attached to to the main Nul player.
 
We also implemented a sprint stamina system; Agents can now sprint away from danger by tapping B until their stamina meter depletes, at which point they will need to wait until the meter completely refills until they are able to sprint again. If an Agent sprints but does not deplete the stamina meter entirely, they will be able to sprint again without delay. The stamina meter is displayed on the side of the Agent’s watch display.

 

General Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • Fixed downed player state for players joining a match in progress
  • Fixed bug where 5+ Agents could join a match
  • Extended match duration before traveling back to lobby
  • Added alert for players that do not have the latest game version and won’t be able to connect to servers
  • Fixed VOIP issues when exiting and rejoining games
  • Fixed portal visibility for Agents joining mid-match so that they can not walk back through the portal
  • Fixed ghost avatar of players not despawning when a player leaves and rejoins a lobby
  • Using Quick Join adds a player immediately into a match instead of waiting in a lobby

Gameplay

  • Fixed bug where door scanners do not always align with their correct color state
  • Added headshot damage, which is double the normal damage value
  • Added checkpoints to terminal completion rate at 33% and 66%
  • Added auto-revive to all Agents at the beginning of the Extermination phase
  • Added bonus time to game clock for each completed terminal and adjusted base game time length
  • Updated terminal skill checks to initiate at random intervals

Nul

  • Added Reaper crouching animations
  • Fixed bug for Kibbler AI material appearing incorrectly after a reveal perk highlights the Nul
  • Added Reaper IK so player’s hand motions are reflected in game
  • Fixed collision issues for Kibbler blocking bullets
  • Fixed bug where Nul AI are spawned at the Agent spawn point
  • Increased Reaper player health to 28 and Reaper AI health to 32
  • Increased Kibbled player health and AI health to 50
  • Fixed cooldown for Kibbler dash ability

Audio

  • Added pistol reload sound
  • Agent breathing/stamina SFX replicated for owner and Nul, not other Agents
  • Change music when entering Extermination Phase
  • Added sound cues for “Good” and “Great” skill check completions
  • Updated VO message when a player starts the game after the first time logging in

Single Player, Challenge Maps and Single Player Lobby

  • Stopped multiplayer AI from spawning in single player Challenge maps
  • Added sprint/stamina info to tutorial
  • Added fire extinguisher to tutorial
  • Added lighting to challenge map trophy shelf

Loadout Equipment and Map Items

  • Added adrenaline shot as a map-spawned item and removed as a loadout item
  • Increased decoy launcher ammo to 6
  • Added fire extinguisher as a map-spawned item; when used, the fire extinguisher blinds Agents and Nul in the immediate area, providing cover for escape
  • Fixed bug where other players couls see a player’s self-revive kit while that player is downed
  • Updated holo mesh texture and tool-belt icon
  • Increased shotgun reload time and projectile spread
  • Increased shotgun ammo to 4 clips of 2 rounds each
  • Added knockback to shotgun
  • Removed sound decoy from map spawns

UI and Pause Menu

  • Updated perk, equipment loadout, and nul selection menus
  • Added Back buttons to menu pages
  • Made pause menu case-sensitive to which level player is in
  • Added splash screen for loading from single player into multiplayer lobby
  • Added labels and directives to ready up in multiplayer lobby
  • Added filter to friends list to show friends that are in INVERSE
  • Added displays for Quest and Index controller mapping
  • Updated language on tutorial reminder pop-up
